Nearly half of all Australian children are not meeting key developmental milestones by the time they start school, according to the latest Australian Early Development Census. The study which surveyed more than 288,000 children and over 16,000 teachers found that only 53 per cent of children are on track for physical, emotional, social and communication targets.
